Queen Anne Local Holiday Shopping Recap

My husband and I don’t usually do a ton of holiday shopping, but we wanted to do more of ours on Queen Anne this year and succeeded.  I popped into charley + may and found a couple perfect gifts—a t-shirt designed by a local Queen Anne graphic designer and a book about bikes my husband is really enjoying.  Blue Highway Games had a great puzzle/brain teaser called Perplexus.  I bought a pile of unique cards at Stuhlbergs. I mentioned to my hubby that a client of mine with great style said she likes shopping at Skookum Clothing, and from there I received some really cool earrings made by local Joanna Morgan Designs, and a pretty scarf.  He also found a card by one of my favorite artists at Queen Anne Dispatch.

When we needed a little break during the holiday season, we tried out the awesome little new Mexican place on Queen Anne Ave., Mezcaleria Oaxaca (fried to order tortilla chips & fresh guacamole, plus amazing interior design).  Of course we could also be found at other usual faves Five Spot, Le Reve, Top Pot, Bustle Caffe, and Caffe Fiore.

Not to mention Video Isle for holiday movies.  This year we watched “Love Actually” (again) and “Scrooged.”

I plan to be more conscious of my buying choices and consider my fellow business people on the Hill first—it’s fun!  What are your favorite businesses on Queen Anne?

P.S.  After writing this post, I came across this neat article on hyper-local markets and am even more motivated to go further!  Are you into shopping local?
